The purpose of approaching a Nude Portraiture concept was and still is to push myself beyond my comfort zone, personally and photographically.
Helping photograph an implied nude concept in 2016 as part of my studies sparked my interest to combine the human body with nature, rather than in a lifeless studio.
Shortly after I realised that the concept of mirroring, which I had briefly experimented with from the air and in the landscape in the years prior, actually had the potential to form an original perspective on creative and artistic nude portraits, especially in abstract natural settings.
My approach is that a nude portrait is no different to socially acceptable portraits of every day people. Respect is key, understanding were the line between portrait and provocative is and ensuring it isn't crossed is vital to the success of a nude portrait.
I am now working on creating nude portraits and the "Nude in a mirrored nature" series that combines the human form with mirrored elements of nature. These images contain a strong sense of symmetry but at the same time explore asymmetry, abstraction of nature and the human form.
Full body nudity features, this is to connect the natural state of a person with the natural settings as well as posing the visuals of the nude female body which has been oppressed or sexualised in a more freeing, non-sexual and natural way.
